Bay Area Theatresports (BATS)

Bay Area Theatresports (BATS) School of Improv

O.K. There are lots of practical reasons to take a class on improvisation. Like, it can help you with your job, asking for a raise, speaking in front of a bunch of people, all of those fun life threatening situations we love. It can also help you with your relationships, by practicing not being right all the time, by being present and attentive, and by having your partner succeed.

All this being true, the real reason to take a class on improv is that it's FUN! You get to learn how to play with life, so life out of the improv class gets more fun as well. It can also be a great way to meet fun people with time to play.

Find the concept scary? Downright terrifying? Yep, taking risks can be scary. Living can be scary. And in these classes you get to practice taking risks, in spite of being a little scared, in front of people who are cheering you on, even when you stumble. Because if you aren't failing, you're playing it too safe, and we all are already experts at playing it safe.
